On July 10, 2010, the Scanlon Creek Bark Park will be officially opened! Please join us from 11:30am to 2pm for a BBQ by the Bradford Lions (nomimal fee), treats for the pooches, a fundraising raffle, and a presentation of prizes to the 3 winners of the name-the-dog-park contest!

Last week, Tyson, Romeo, and I did a sneak peak of the dog park and, BOY!, were we stunned. It’s absolutely AMAZING! An incredibly dog-fun-tastic place! Loads of space to run around (3.2 acres to be exact!), loads of mature trees to keep things shady, a double-gate system for the pooches safety, and even a wonder-ruff-le little path thru the forest that leads to the park. Kudos goes to Brenda Winter, Project Coordinator and Community Outreach, Lake Simcoe Conservation Foundation, for spear-heading the whole project. Brenda: WE LOVE YOU!

It brought back many, many memories of my heart-dog, Blaze, a beautiful Siberian Husky, who left my world at the tender age of 10. One morning he was all over me, and 12 hours later, I cried over his death. While his departure was quick, it was so unexpected. I had so many plans still in my mind. But that’s what this disease will do and anything I can do to help find a cure seems like a small price to pay.

What a terrific course! In one and a half days, we covered every imaginable scenerio and spent a good portion of the course “experimenting” on live animals – bless those 4-legged *casualties* who endured our imaginative first-aid solutions! I’m proud to admit I passed with a 100% grade on the final exam…ok, it was open-book but knowing where to find the answer was a skill unto itself! The paint is going on, the lights are being installed – we’re almost there!  Excitement is mounting as the completion of the grooming shop nears!

The grooming course is done and I’m very proud to say that I passed with Honors!  We are very busy right now designing and building my shop.  It won’t be long now until opening day!
